"Oh what's happened to you, Lady Palutena.?" she mumbled. Phoenia was almost brought to tears when she saw it. In the main hall of the temple stood a grand statue of Lady Palutena. Upon arriving at the temple in the outskirts of the city she went inside and found it empty. If she couldn't get any answers to her questions there, she could at least get some peace of mind if only for a moment. She figured it might do her good to visit a place where they worship Lady Palutena. Still making sure to conceal her wings from all the humans around her Phoenia had recently learned of the existence of a temple of the light goddess in the city. It was far from ideal but it was her best option right now. One week after she arrived in the city Phoenia had spent the last couple of nights at a homeless shelter where she helped out with all sorts of things in exchange for some food and a bed to sleep in. Having grown up in a human city similar to this one she was familiar with their way of life, so instead of living on the streets as she had when she was young, this time she made sure to have at least a somewhat acceptable place to sleep. Being careful to avoid eye contact with both the guards and the family members Phoenia quietly walked with them inside, and as soon as they were in she snuck off by herself. The parents showed the guards a card of some kind and were then let inside. As she walked closely behind the family they reached the gate. Knowing from her past experiences with humans that they may not take kindly to her angel wings, she made sure to hide them inside her dress. After a while of trying unsuccessfully to come up with a plan to get in she spotted a family with five children walking toward the city gate - it was obvious they would enter - so Phoenia took this opportunity to blend in with the kids. She knew she wouldn't likely be able to get in there very easily. Normally she would be able to fly right over it but not anymore, so she found one of the gates into the city but it was guarded by some pretty stern looking gentlemen. Not knowing exactly where she was she had no clue of where to go but she picked a direction and stuck to it.Ī week later a tired and dirty Phoenia reached a fairly big human city that was surrounded by a stone wall. After having regained her energy Phoenia stood up again and attempted to fly back into the sky, but her wings wouldn't lift her up at all, so instead she started walking. Her state of shock would soon ease down and her injuries weren't too bad, but she was out of breath and very confused. She lay down on her back in the wet grass by the lake and gazed longingly up into the blue sky above her as she rested her body. She was lucky enough to fall into a lake that she had happened to be passing over, but from the height she fell she was still injured and exhausted once she has swam ashore. She started falling straight down towards the ground and she could feel her downward speed increasing as she fell. She tried flapping them as hard as she could but to no avail. But as Phoenia was thinking about this on her way through the skies her wings suddenly stopped working. Once she would reach her destination and complete her delivery Phoenia figured she would get Lady Palutena souvenir gift from the location she was flying towards. It was yet another delivery mission appointed to her by Lady Palutena herself, who was also the one who had granted Phoenia the magical power of flight. Phoenia was soaring majestically through the clear skies.
